Description:
Hat: 3-8 (10) cm in diameter, first hemispherical, then convex with a thin curled edge, in old age with a raised edge, matte, velvety, slippery in wet weather, the color is rather changeable and often heterogeneous, brown with a lighter edge, gray -brown, grayish yellowish, dark brown, reddish brown.
The tubular layer is large-pored, adherent or slightly descending, at first bright yellow (a characteristic feature), later ocher-yellow, olive-yellow, yellow-brown.
Spore powder, yellow-olive.
Leg: 7-10 cm long and 1-2 cm in diameter, swollen or widened downwards, often cone-shaped at the base, yellow at the top, finely speckled in the middle part with a red-brown powdery spotty bloom (characteristic feature), at the base with red -brown, red-brown, rusty-brown tones, intensely blue on the cut, then it becomes dark blue or blackish-blue.
Flesh: firm, yellow, on the cut all the flesh quickly turns dark blue, blackish-blue color (a characteristic feature), with a pleasant rare odor and mild taste.
Distributed:
From August to September in deciduous and mixed forests (often with spruce oak), more often in groups and singly, it is rare, more often in warm southern regions (in the Caucasus, Ukraine, the Far East).
Similarity:
Dusty boletus is similar to the Polish mushroom, which is more frequent in the middle lane, from which it differs in a bright yellow hymenophore, a yellow speckled leg and a fast and intense blue discoloration at the cut points. It differs from the quickly blue Duboviks (with a red hymenophore) in a yellow tubular layer. It differs from other Bolets (Boletus radicans) by the absence of a mesh on the leg.
