False Satanic Mushroom

The current name is Rubroboletus legaliae (according to Species Fungorum).

The mushroom cap can grow up to 10 centimeters in diameter. In shape, it resembles a convex pillow, it can have a protruding and sharp edge. The superficial layer of the peel is the color of coffee with milk, which over time may change to brown with a pink tint. The surface of the fungus is dry, with a slight tomentose bloom; in overripe mushrooms, the surface is bare. The false satanic mushroom has a light yellow flesh, delicate in structure, the base of the leg is colored reddish, and if you cut it, it begins to turn blue. The mushroom gives off a sour smell. The height of the leg is 4-8 cm, the thickness is 2-6 cm, the shape is cylindrical, tapering towards the base.

For the surface layer of the fungus, a yellowish color is characteristic, and for the lower one, carmine or purple-red. A thin mesh is visible, which is similar in color to the lower part of the leg. The tubular layer is grayish-yellow. Young mushrooms have small yellow pores, which grow larger with age and turn red in color. Spore olive powder.

False Satanic Mushroom

The false satanic mushroom is widespread in oak and beech forests, loves light and warm places, calcareous soils. This is a rather rare species. It bears fruit in summer and autumn. It has a species similarity with boletus le Gal (and according to some sources it is).

This mushroom belongs to the category of inedible, as its toxic properties are very little studied.
